  • IS THERE SOME PREPARATION I CAN DO BEFORE A COURSE?Yes. Reading and understanding the Highway Code is very important for anyone who will ride (or drive) on the road. It is updated about every 6 months and can be bought cheaply from most general book stores. There are also many other publications from various organisationssuch as the DSA that you might find useful.For those doing CBT, completing the DVSA’s free online course RideFree is highly beneficial. The RideFree eLearning course enhances your compulsory basic training (CBT), laying a solid foundation for safer riding. It will also assist you in preparing for your theory and practical tests.   • DO I NEED TO HAVE HAD ANY MOTORCYCLING EXPERIENCE?No is the simple answer, however having bicycle experience is extremely helpful it’s almost a must. Bicycle riding helps with essential skills such as balance, spatial orientation, and understanding two-wheel dynamics. It makes the transition to motorcycling smoother and easier. Familiarity with braking, looking out for blind spots, and navigating alongside cars prepares you well for motorcycle riding, enhancing your overall safety and confidence on the road. 

  • CAN CATER ANY SPECIAL NEEDS - DISABILTY 1-2-1 "ACCESSABILITY

  • WHAT SHOULD I WEAR ON A COURSE?

  • Ideally, motorcycle clothing if you have it, but if not something that is warm, waterproof and strong with footwear that comes up over the ankle for example, DM’s or walking boots. We have a selection of helmet’s, JACKETS gloves and waterproofs available FREE OF CHarge. we like to recommend J&S in Plymouth due to their wide selection of clothing etc 

  • I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR THEORY TEST, DO I HAVE TO TAKE A SEPARATE ONE FOR MOTORCYCLES?

  • Yes. You need to have taken and passed a category “A” theory test before you can take the practical test. . To try a practice theory test please click here to go to the DSA’s web site. You do not have to take the theory test before a CBT but we recommend you read and understand the Highway Code (see above). THEREE IS NO THOERY TEST REQUIRED - TO PROCEED TO A FULL LICENCE A1 OR A2  THEORY TEST IS REQUIRED.

  • CAN I USE MY OWN BIKE FOR THE COURSE?

  • Yes. All our courses can be taken on your own or a hire bike. If you use your own bike it must have tax, MOT (if three years old or more), insurance and the bike must be fully road legal (including “L” plates FRONT AND REAR). Remember, you may have to get your bike delivered to and from the course (please contact us if you are not sure).

  • WHAT PAPERWORK DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?

  • For CBT you will need your Driving Licence with the category for the machine you wish to use. If you are taking a standard or direct access course please bring your driving licence with the category for the machine you wish to use, your CBT certificate (if all ready taken) and your theory test certificate. Please note, for the final practical test you will need your Driving Licence. FOR ALL LESSONS PLEASE BRING ALL DOCUMENTATION, THEORY TEST, D,LICEN AND CBT

  • HOW LONG DOES A CBT TAKE?

  • A CBT starts at 9.00am depending on location (ask on booking) and can finish anywhere between 3PM ONWARDS. The course is a continuous assessment, only moving on to the next section when your instructor is SATISFIED you have reached the required standard for that section.

  • WILL WE STOP FOR LUNCH / BREAKS (REST STOPS)

  • YES - TOILETS ON SITE, REGULAR STOPS AND BREAKS AS REQUIRED, (SMOKING ANXIETY) (PROVIDE SNACKS AND BOTTLE WATER - PACKED LUNCH IF YOU WNAT MORE SUBSTANTIAL FOOD)
